Participants in the conference included: Dr.\u00a0Michelle Bachelet, Executive Director of UN Women; Madame Sylvia Bongo Ondimba, First Lady of the Gabonese\u00a0Republic; Mrs. Cherie Blair, President of the Loomba Foundation; Lord Raj Loomba, Founder of the Loomba\u00a0Foundation; and Mrs. Ban Soon Taek, wife of the United Nations Secretary General.<\/h6><h6><b>On the eve of International Widows Day<\/b>, an exhibition of a series of Oil and Acrylics paintings highlighting the\u00a0plight of widows around the world by Reeta Sarkar, a Trustee of the Loomba Foundation, was inaugurated by the<br \/>renowned artist, Yoko Ono.<\/h6><h6><b>September 18, 2011 \u2013 Savoy Hotel, London<\/b><br \/>The Loomba Foundation held an annual charity dinner at the Savoy Hotel, which was attended by the Deputy\u00a0Prime Minister, Rt Hon Nick Clegg MP, as Chief Guest. The Foundation\u2019s international ambassador, famous\u00a0Bollywood Actors, Kajol and Ajay Devgn supported the charity event.<\/h6><h6><b>December 10, 2012 \u2013 New Delhi, India<\/b><br \/>Over 200 high-profile guests attended the charity dinner including Ministers, senior politicians, Members of\u00a0Parliament, High Commissioners, bureaucrats and business leaders. Some of the guests at the dinner included\u00a0delegates from Tata Consultancy, Max India Foundation, Central Bank of India, Taj Hotels, Micromax Mobile,\u00a0Herbert Smith LLP, and Rotary Blood Bank. Harjiv Singh, Trustee of the Loomba Foundation and co-founder\u00a0and co-CEO of Gutenberg Communications, gave away the vote of thanks.<\/h6><h6>Bollywood superstar and international goodwill ambassador for The Loomba Foundation, Kajol, along with\u00a0Founder and Chairman Trustee, Lord Raj Loomba CBE, gave away mementos and certificates of appreciation to<br \/>leading industry stalwarts who had come forward to support the cause of educating children of poor widows in\u00a0India.<\/h6>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-044ed25 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"044ed25\" data-element_type=\"container\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b5b74b7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"b5b74b7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Research and Publications<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d36e9ad e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"d36e9ad\" data-element_type=\"container\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4c73cdb elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4c73cdb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"text-align: justify; line-height: 115%;\">In 2010, the Loomba Foundation published a Comprehensive Research Study Book \u2013 \u2018Invisible, Forgotten&nbsp;Sufferers: The Plight of Widows Around the World\u2019. The first edition was presented to the UN Secretary&nbsp;General, H.E. Ban Ki Moon President by the President of the Foundation, Cherie Blair, and Founder and&nbsp;Chairman, Lord Loomba CBE. The book was subsequently presented to the Honourable President of India and&nbsp;the US Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton.<\/p>\n<p>The Loomba Foundation has also published a book of oil and acrylic paintings highlighting the plight widows around&nbsp;the world by London-based artist Reeta Sarkar. Entitled \u2018A Hidden Calamity: The Plight of Widows\u2019, the book&nbsp;includes all 17 of Reeta\u2019s oils and acrylics paintings which are based on three key themes \u2013 South Asia, Africa and&nbsp;Conflict.
